Mexico Duck Hunts
Your day will typically begin around 4am, give or take a half hour, depending on the distance to the hunting spot! You will start your day off with breakfast, which will consist of things like eggs, toast, cereal, juice and coffee.
If we are duck hunting the bay you will have about a 40-minute drive to where we will meet the boat drivers and duck guides at the dock. The duck guides will have the decoys, blinds, shells, and guns ready in the boat when you arrive. You will then take a 15–45-minute boat ride to the hunting spot. Most days you will be done hunting and back to the dock around 11-11:30 and will head back to the lodge for lunch.
If you are hunting freshwater, you will take about an hour to an hour and a half drive to the ranch where you will be duck hunting. These duck hunts are typically very fast-paced, and since we have a little more travel time to get to them, we will typically try to leave by 10:30 am to head back to the lodge.
Once back at the lodge from the morning hunt, you will be greeted by the bartender and a freshly made margarita while you unwind before lunch. Lunch will typically be served right away as we don’t normally have a ton of down time before headed back out for the afternoon hunt.
Depending on your hunt package, the afternoon hunt will consist of either more ducks, dove or quail!
As the afternoon hunt comes to an end, you will again head back to the lodge for happy hour and an evening celebrating the successful day of hunting.
This is an example of a “Typical day”. Not everyday will follow this exact itinerary. Some days we may cook lunch remotely on a ranch.

DOVE HUNTS IN MEXICO
A typical day of Mexico dove hunting will start with a made to order breakfast in the lodge (Eggs, toast, cereal, coffee, juice, etc). After breakfast we will head out and drive to the hunting location.
Typically, on the dove hunts you are traveling around 45 minutes to each of the hunting locations. You will then shoot for a few hours before heading back to the lodge.
When you get back to the lodge the staff will have some margaritas and appetizers to greet you with. After that you will have some time to relax, as normally dove season is warm and a quick cool off in the pool is always a good option! Lunch will be served around 12:30 most days and after lunch you will have a little more down time before heading out for the afternoon hunt.
The afternoon dove shoot will be much like the morning where you will shoot for 2-3 hours and then returning back to the lodge for the rest of your evening! Drinks will be had, stories will be told, and a good time is almost a certain!

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO DOVE HUNT IN MEXICO?
The white wing season is best from Mid-August through October. There really isn’t a best time in that time frame…it is all very similar!
How many shells should hunters plan to shoot?
This is really a tough question to answer. It really just depends on the shooter. There will be opportunities to shoot 2+ cases on each hunt; morning and afternoon. If you are not looking for that volume of shooting or trying to be more budget minded…that is just fine! You can have a great time shooting a case or less on each hunt and really be picky about the shots you take!

QUAIL HUNTING IN MEXICO
WHAT'S A TYPICAL DAY OF QUAIL HUNTING IN MEXICO?
Your day will begin with breakfast at around 5:30 am (Give or take 30 minutes depending on where the first hunt location is). You will then take off and after a 30-40 minute drive you will arrive at your first spot of the day! When hunting quail all day we will normally hunt for 3-4 hours in the morning and either do lunch in the field or head back to the lodge depending on the area we are hunting that day. After lunch you will typically have an hour to relax and rest and then it is time to head back out for the afternoon! Depending on the groups ability to walk and how hard they want to hunt this can really look different for everyone.
For those that want to hunt as hard as possible…WE WILL for those that may tire early…we can definitely cut the day short and get back to the lodge early. After wrapping up your day of quail hunting we will head back to the lodge for happy hour. We will have an hour or so before supper to relax, unwind and reflect on a great day afield.
WHAT'S THE BEST TIME TO HUNT QUAIL IN MEXICO?
Quail hunting is really good all of late November-February! Hunting in an area that has next to zero hunting pressure, we are on of only a few that are chasing these birds around. The abundance of landscape available for us to hunt really ensure we have quality hunting almost every day of the year! Obvious things like mother nature can make some days better than others, but as a whole there isn’t a “Best Time”.
Travel Information
- This hunting trip will require a passport!!
There are a few options for you to get to us!
Traveling to the Loma Colorada is very easy and convenient as you will be flying to either Brownsville, Harlingen, or McAllen Texas. It is best for us if you can utilize Brownsville or Harlingen, but if McAllen is easier from where you are coming from it is only about 35-40 minutes further for us!
If you are flying private, we would suggest flying into the Brownsville Airport.
From the airport you will walk out and meet the lodge staff out front. The vehicles are very easy to spot as they will have a lodge and Tourismo logo on each of the vehicles. After the staff is done loading all of your belongings you will begin your travels to the lodge. You will cross into Mexico which is normally a very fast and efficient crossing (Normally less than 10 minutes) and begin your drive to the lodge. The drive is roughly an hour and 45 minutes from the border!
