What is a Typical Day of Hunting at Swift River Outfitters in Canada?
Waterfowl hunting in Saskatchewan, Canada is one of those bucket list hunting trips every hunter should experience. The flyway that runs through Saskatchewan includes millions of snow geese, many species of ducks and LOTS of them, Canada geese, white-fronted geese, and sandhill crane.
The hunters at Swift River Outfitters will have numerous opportunities at harvesting a wide variety of ducks and geese. Our season starts on September 1st and we normally run until the end of October. We work hard to put you on quality waterfowl hunts, day in and day out.
Most days at our lodge, we usually field hunt for geese in the morning, and a duck/crane hunt in the afternoon. Mornings are either hunting snow geese or Canada geese. Of course, the migration and weather will always be a factor that could change how we hunt as well. At the end of the day...it's hunting!

We have a lot of ducks on the prairies of Saskatchewan, the only real question is how do you want to hunt them?
Field hunting for ducks and geese is quite common up in Canada, and we say ducks AND geese because often they're feeding in the same fields.
Also, there are a lot of potholes around the region, if that's your type of hunting you prefer. Either way, you should have plenty of opportunities to see clouds of ducks during your hunting trip.
HUNTING GEESE IN SASKATCHEWAN, CA
When the geese arrive in our area, it's often a very noisy place! During the fall and spring seasons, we have A LOT of snow geese around, as well as Canada geese, Speckle Bellies, and Crane.
Most of our hunts are in the fields that we scouted the night before. We set up a nice, quality decoy spread with comfortable blinds to hunt out of.
WHAT ABOUT HUNTING SNOW GEESE IN THE SPRING IN SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA?
Swift River Outfitters is situated near the tree line in Saskatchewan, CA. That means this is the end of the road before they make their trek up to the tundra to breed. Snow geese like to feed hard in this area before that migration, and with the lack of pressure you will get to see how snow geese can really decoy!
We do not set up permanent spreads, we are mobile and set up each and every morning for every snow goose hunt. This ensures having birds return the next morning, hopefully in your laps.
There is a limit of 20 snow geese in the spring season of Saskatchewan. We normally have a successful hunt most mornings, which means we will take the afternoon off to scout and prep for the next day's hunt.

Travel Information Into Saskatchewan, Canada
- This hunting trip will require a passport!! If you need one or if yours expired, you can visit your local post office for another (usually takes 4-6 weeks). If you have a passport card that will only work if you are driving to Canada. However, if you plan to fly into Canada you will need the passport booklet.
- Traveling by vehicle, we are located in the north central part of Saskatchewan, CA.
- Traveling by Plane, you could fly into either Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport or into the Regina International Airport. Either way, once you arrive you simply rent a car and you're on your way to the lodge. We are roughly equal distance from both airports so really go with what makes sense for you.
