The River Lodge - Mexico
The River Lodge, which is located in the state of Nayarit, Mexico, which is located on Mexico’s west coast, sits on a beautiful remote quiet ranch overlooking the San Pedro River! It truly provides an oasis of serenity as you sit outside and watch the ducks come and go from the river in one of the most peaceful places you could ever find yourself!
There are 2 separate lodges on the property, one of which was newly built in 2024, and the other opened in Feb of 2026! Both lodges offer comfortable spaces to call home during the duration of the hunt. Between the 2 lodges there are 12 rooms, each with 2 beds. Each of the lodges have its own pool and hot tub for you to unwind when you are not out in the field hunting!
What is a Typical Day of Hunting at the River Lodge?
Your day will typically begin around 5:00 am give or take a half hour depending on the distance to the hunting spot! You will start your day with breakfast, which will consist of things like eggs, toast, pancakes, juice and Coffee. You will then typically drive 20-40 minutes from the lodge to your duck hunt! The guides will have the decoys, blinds, shells, and guns ready when you arrive and they will escort you out to the blind to get the morning started! Most days you will be done hunting between 9:00-10:00 am and will head back to the lodge for some appetizers (Dove poppers, chicken wings, quesadillas, etc). You will then have time to take a quick nap, hang out in the pool or simply relax outside and enjoy the beautiful weather that came there for! You will then have lunch around 1:30 pm before taking off for the afternoon White Wing Dove hunt around 2:30! Typical drives for the white-wing hunts will again be about 20-40 minutes from the lodge. After the dove hunt you will return to the lodge! Margaritas, Cervezas, and appetizers will be ready for you when you arrive back to camp. You will than have some time to relax, enjoy happy hour and share stories of the day before Dinner is served!
This is truly a very relaxing trip. It provides just the right amount of down time where you don’t feel like you are rushing to get to the next hunt! It’s the perfect “Hunt-cation” as I like to call it!
The best time for this hunt will be anytime between January 1st and March 31st! As outlined this hunt is so consistent there isn’t really a time period in there I wouldn’t recommend for the ducks!

AMAZING DUCK HUNTING IN MEXICO
The duck hunting in this part of Mexico is pretty consistent year over year. Not only is it usually fast waterfowling action, you also get the chance to see and harvest quite a few species of ducks.

We normally hunt water in different types of setups, depending on the situation. Just make sure you keep your shotgun loaded...
FAST-ACTION DOVE HUNTING IN MEXICO
When joining us on a dove hunt you will hunt twice each day (unless you choose to duck hunt in the morning). You will start your day with a made to order style breakfast fresh from the kitchen. After that we will have a 30-minute drive to the field we will be hunting.
Typically we will shoot for 2-3 hours, until all the hunters have had all the shooting they can take, or the dove flights end for the morning! We will head back to the lodge for some appetizers and drinks. After that there will be some down time to either take a nap, enjoy the pool or simply relax outside and enjoy the beautiful weather tourist flock to Nayarit for! We will eat lunch around 1-1:30 and then head back out for the afternoon flight!
When the dove hunting concludes for the afternoon we will head back to the lodge and enjoy an evening full of cocktails, food, and laughs!
This is really a perfect hunt for those corporate outings, annual guy’s trip or just a simple vacation!
When is the peak white-wing dove season in Nayarit, Mexico and what kind of volume do you expect to shoot?
These Mexican dove hunts are amazing throughout the November-December time frame! The opportunity to shoot 100-200 doves on each of these hunts is 100% the hope and our expectation. For those that are shooting more conservatively with a shell budget in mind, shooting a case of shells is going to be no issue. For those with no budget in mind and wanting to harvest all they can…2+ cases on each dove hunt is for sure a realistic expectation!
WHAT ARE THE BIRD LIMITS IN MEXICO?
Nayarit Mexico has a liberal 30 ducks/day limit. You will be limited to either 30 ducks or 4 boxes of shells each morning on your duck hunt! It is the norm for hunters to have the opportunity to harvest this volume of ducks on a daily basis! When it comes to Duck hunting in Mexico…. we haven’t found a place that is more consistent than the River Lodge!
There are
no limits on the white wing doves! The afternoons can be as, if not more, action packed than the morning duck hunt. A typical afternoon you can expect to shoot a case of shells, and even up to 2 cases on those exceptional afternoons!
The River Lodge Hunt Pricing
- The cost of the hunt is going to be $3950
- That will include: Meals, beverages, lodging, licenses, transportation to and from the airport, Shot gun rental, and GRATUITIES!
What isn’t included:
We have packaged this trip together so there are as few of additional items on your final bill as possible! The only thing that is not included is your shot gun shells, which are currently $28/box.

Travel Information
- This trip will require a passport!!
There are a few options for you to get to us! Travel to the River lodge is VERY easy!
**The easiest, shortest, most cost-effective and popular route will be to fly directly into Mazatlán. Once you land in Mazatlán you will go through customs which is typically very easy and nothing to fret about. From there you will walk out to the lobby where you will be greeted by some of the lodge staff. From the Mazatlán airport you will take about a 2-hour drive south to the lodge. The drive is very scenic and the roads are great.
A second option would be to fly into Puerto Vallarta.
- We can pick you up at the Puerto Vallarta airport which you will then take about a 2.5-3 hour drive to the lodge
- We can organize a Cessna plane to fly you down to the lodge. This will bring you within about 5-10 minutes of the lodge. The cost of this is roughly $1200 and each plane can take up to 3 hunters.
- If you are flying private depending on the size of your aircraft there are a few options for you to fly directly to us. Distances from those airports range from 10 minutes to 1 hour!
